| Issue 99: Vollmann, Jochen: Fürsorgen und Anteilnehmen: Ethics of Care. April 1995 | | | The Ethics of Care, an Ethics of Emotional and Personal Relationship. This review article provides an overview about the Ethics of Care, which has developed as a new perspective in American bioethics since the early eighties. The first part deals with the definition of Care. An introduction into the Kohlberg-Gilligan debate is given and links with feminist philosophy are pointed out. In the second part limitations and conceptual problems of the Care perspective are discussed with references to the current literature. Finally, implications of the Care ethics debate for medicine and health care are addressed.
