Issues 100-76

Issue 93: Koch, Hans-Georg; Sass, Hans-Martin; Meran, Johannes Gobertus: und Stellvertretende Entscheidung in rechtlicher, medizinischer und ethischer Sicht. 1st edition: June 1994; 3rd edition: April 1996

The contributions by Koch, Meran, and Sass present legal, medical, and bioethical aspects of Advance Directives and Surrogate Decision Making in Germany. The papers discuss cases, examine the literature in their field, and review future issues and challenges. Earlier versions were presented at a symposium on Law and Behavior, sponsored by the Volkswagen Foundation and held at Georgetown University in the spring of 1994. The symposium addressed issues of Advance Directives and Surrogate Decision Making in a transcultural and interdisciplinary setting; it included physicians, legal experts, and ethicists from Japan, the US, and Germany.
